New Safety Equipment for Laboratories
13-02-2004

Hughes Safety Showers of Stockport has launched a new range of emergency safety showers, eyebaths and facewash fountains, specially designed for laboratories.

The compact, light-weight units are unheated and can be used in any indoor, clean area where small spillages of dangerous chemicals could be a hazard to students and staff. They are easy to fit and comply fully with the requirements of the German DIN Standard (12899), the internationally accepted benchmark for this type of safety equipment.

The showers can be wall or ceiling mounted with an option to recess the ceiling model in the cavity. This is ideal for laboratories or rooms with restricted height or where overhead shower facilities are required at a specific location. A simple pull-rod is used to activate the unit.

An eyebath and facewash fountain, with integral lid, can be bench mounted close to the work area for easy access with water and drain connections made through the base of the unit. Alternatively, it can be wall or pedestal mounted depending on the available space. The lid protects against dust, contamination and accidental damage and when raised, automatically activates the unit leaving the hands free to hold the eyes open and assist in the washing process.

A flush mounted model is also available with the bowl and the spray nozzles recessed into a bench or table-top. When activated, using a push-plate adjacent to bowl, the water jets lift off the dust-covers to deliver an instant face and eye wash.

To complete the range, a wall-mounted combination unit is available which includes a shower and eyebath with the option to add a hose mounted eye, face and body-shower for even greater flexibility.

Powder coated stainless steel pipework and fittings eliminate the risk of corrosion while giving a high-quality finish that is aesthetically pleasing and compatible with laboratory furnishings.
