Convenient and Safe Handling of Contaminated Waste
05-03-2004
Hughes Safety Showers has introduced a palletised receptacle for the safe collection and storage of contaminated clothing, equipment or waste water. It has a capacity of 1 cubic metre or will hold up to 1000 litres of contaminated water and can be supplied as a stand alone unit or as an add-on feature for one of Hughes decontamination shower systems.
The receptacle is made from heavy duty woven polypropylene with integral side pockets into which MDF panels are fitted to form a rigid structure. Units can be moved easily using a fork lift truck or lifted with slings and can be stacked up to two high.
When it is used to store contaminated waste water, a 1000 litre polyethylene bag is fitted into the unit and filled from a waste water pump. When the bag is full it is capped off and can be loaded onto a vehicle by fork lift truck for safe disposal.
When empty, several waste receptacles can be piled on top of one another and strapped to an equal number of stackable pallets. They can be stored in this way and are then easily handled by fork lift truck for quick deployment.
The palletised receptacle is the latest in a range of ancillary products introduced to extend the capabilities and effectiveness of Hughes decontamination shower systems.
