Buildbase Kawasaki Round 2
John Laverty rode two solid races coming home with a 7th and 8th place respectively. Working hard throughout free practice the team were confident of a strong qualifying performance, and John didn’t disappoint. Going all the way to qualifying stage three, John held onto a front row start position until the dying second where Michael Rutter just passed him, securing John a season’s best 5th place starting position.
Race one and a great start saw John move up into 4th place, an eight rider battle then ensued for the race duration, with John battling and places exchanging race long, eventually John taking a hard fought 7th place.
Race two, and with the new rules for 2010, John started in 9th place. Another super start saw John up to 6th before a race long battle with Tas Suzuki rider and brother Michael Laverty. John chased down the leading pack but with laps running out had to settle for an eventual 8th place.
Team mate Adam Jenkinson wasn’t so lucky; a first lap qualifying crash ruled him out for the weekend with too much damage to his Kawasaki ZX10R to be repaired in the 24 hours before race day. A battered and bruised Adam will return ready to battle at his home circuit, Oulton Park, in two weeks time.
In Superstock 1000 poor qualifying meant Lee Jackson and Barry Burrell both had work to do in the race but work they did. Barry battled through from 18th to finish in 14th and Lee finished 17th from 24th. A tough weekend for the Superstock 1000 but they will both bounce back and look to push for top ten places at Oulton Park.
Superstock 600 and Joel Morris struggled during qualifying ending in 14th place. In the race Joel came through the pack to finish 11th with only 2.8 seconds separating him from 2nd place.
