Buildbase Maintain Top 6 Finish

The unfortunate weather played havoc at round six of the British Superbike championship at Knockhill over the past weekend. With good weather over the two days of practice and qualifying, race day was greeted with 40mph winds and torrential rain.

After qualifying in 14th, John Laverty was confident that changes to his machine on Saturday would ensure a better race finish. With the race underway in wet conditions John battled through the pack, and with the track surface drying rapidly as the race progressed, John used all his experience to preserve his tyres enabling him to take an excellent 6th also setting the 6th fastest lap of the race.

Adam Jenkinson qualified in 21st after a small technical problem saw him miss the final moments of qualifying one.  An excellent start saw him up to 15th on lap one, but as the track dried out Adam had used the best of his tyres meaning he would finish the race in 23rd.

Race two was unfortunately postponed due the poor weather conditions and has subsequently been re-scheduled to take place at Snetterton in two weeks time.

In Superstock 1000cc Barry Burrell continued his good run of form with a solid 7th place leaving him 8th in the standings. Lee Jackson also rode a strong race to come home in 12th place after starting in 17th.

New recruit Matt Bilton strongly in 10th place before a steady first few laps in the tricky conditions meant he had to battle from 20th through to finish 13th. Matt is now 2nd overall in the series.
